I was sitting at a traffic light today, and for no reason whatsoever it
suddenly dawned on me why South Park is so vulgar. Vulgarity (and
profanity and pornography and flag burning) is protected speech,
whereas criticizing a sitting politician is a federal offense.
Since the creators of South Park unabashedly engage in the latter, they
must balance with the former to avoid jail time.
Example:
"Hillary Clinton is not good for this country."
Federal offense, 60 days prior to an election.
"Hillary Clinton is a #@&!"
Protected speech.
